Snake gourd kootu

Snake gourd kootu is a very easy to cook and cook in 30 minutes. Snake gourd, bengal gram, coconut, aniseed is the main ingredients of this dish




  • Soak the bengal gram add enough water in 5 - 10 minutes

  • Soak well

INGREDIENTS

1 snake gourd (sliced)
5 Small onion(cut 1/2 size)
1/4 big onion(chopped)
5-6 tsp of bengal gram(soak)
1 /4 cup of coconut (grind)
I/4 tsp of aniseed
2 tsp of oil
2 cup of water(or) rice water
2 tsp kuzhambu powder (mixer of 1 tsp of red chili powder,1 tsp of coriander powder)
1 tsp of salt
1 /4 tsp of mustard seed
1/4 tsp of urad

  • Take a vessel and heat it

  • Add 2 cup of rice water or water

  • Drain the soak bengal gram and add it

  • Boil it

  • Close the vessel and boil in 10 minutes

  • Bengal gram cook well

  • Add snake gourd and small onion (medium flame)

  • Add kuzhambu powder and salt (medium flame)

  • Close the vessel and boil in 10 minutes (medium flame)

  • Take a jar

  • Add cup of coconut, aniseed, few water and grind it

  • Take a new vessel add oil and heat it

  • Add mustard seed & urad and until wait for explosive & brownish color

  • Add chopped onions and saute

  • Saute well

  • Snake gourd cook well

  • Add coconut grind

  • Pour this tempering over the kootu

  • Boil in 5-8 minutes

  • Serve it
